About

The bench and the backbone

I'm John — a network engineer who plays piano, and a pianist who thinks in packets.

This site is where those two lives meet AI. The projects here start as real practice at a real piano — MIDI streams, chord voicings, call-and-response improvisation — and become working systems: local models, agents, live demos you can sometimes play with from your own browser.

The learn track is the transferable part: how to use AI to go deeper into whatever you already love — woodworking, birding, chess, anything. The hobby is the syllabus; AI is the study partner.

Everything here is built in the open, with AI at the bench. AI helps write the code and some of the words; the taste, the practicing, and the wrong notes are mine.
